Google expanding Chrome's mobile Incognito lock and Safety Check.

Google is making it easier for users to secure their Chrome Incognito sessions with biometric authentication. According to a recent blog post, the feature, which has been available on iOS for some time, is now becoming more widely available on Android. The feature, called "Lock Incognito tabs when you close Chrome," allows users to open Incognito tabs as normal, but when they switch to another app, they will need to use their phone's unlock pin or biometrics such as a fingerprint or face recognition to access the hidden tabs. However, it should be noted that regular tabs can still be accessed without an unlock.

To activate the feature, users can navigate to the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the Chrome app, then go to Settings > Privacy and Security. In this section, users will find an option to toggle on "Lock Incognito tabs when you leave Chrome."

In addition to the Incognito tab locking feature, Google is also expanding its Safety Check feature. Safety Check can scan saved passwords and alert users if any have been compromised, as well as remove any malicious extensions. Google plans to make Safety Check more proactive by providing users with personalized recommendations and reminders about the permissions that websites have.
